Game En route to the Ndutu Area

On the 3rd day of your itinerary, we will embark on a morning drive with your picnic hot lunch to the Southern Parts of Serengeti, Ndutu area where the unforgiving nature take its course as the predators look to take advantage on the breeding wildebeests, gazelles and zebras. The main highlight of the area is Lake Ndutu which is situated in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and is part of the southern Serengeti eco-system. Lake Ndutu is alkaline, like most of the other Rift lakes, however, the water is still drinkable and used by a wide array of local wildlife. The majority of the wildebeest migration can normally be found on the short-grass plains from December to April.

We will search for great animal viewing point around this area which is usually heavily populated with elephants, birds and resident game. The Ndutu region forms part of the northern section of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. It stretches to the unfenced southern reaches of the Serengeti National Park, creating a meeting point between these two incredible wilderness areas. After lunch and extensive game drives, you will continue to your Camp, our new found home for the next 2 nights.

Following the Migration in the Ndutu Area

After our delicious breakfast, we head out to enjoy a full day game drive in the Ndutu region, following the herds of wildebeests, Zebras and Gazelles who will be looking for perfect spots to deliver the new babies. Remember, we are permitted to drive off-road here in search for the best wildlife viewing opportunities.

Here, we will continue with our 2 days endeavor of exploring its range of different habitats found here that include swamps, woodland, soda lakes, and the world-famous Serengeti short grass plains. We will see the awesome sight of the great thronging herds of wildebeest and zebra.

During the end of December and early April, about half a million calves are born in this awesome act of synchronized birthing.

The sea of grass provides little cover and the young Wildebeest calves can run minutes after they are born and within 3 days, they are normally strong enough to keep up with the herds. During these two days, with a good guiding of our skillful driver-guide it won’t be uncommon to spot big predators stocking here and there for a meal in these recently born calves. As the even falls, we will drive back to your camp for dinner and overnight.
